We've all been there..... whether you're a homeschooler, teacher, or principal; you spend all year painstakingly pouring into your students. You see fantastic growth only to watch them regress over summer break!

So....can you really avoid the dreaded summer regression? The answer is.....

Yes! You can avoid summer learning regressions!

All it takes is continued exposure to learning opportunities! Sounds easy right? It can be!

Two Simple Steps to Avoiding Summer Regression in Students

ONE: Provide Learning Materials

In a world of rainbows and butterflies, we could send home copious amounts of resources, books, and learning materials with each student over summer break, but I know that isn't a reality for most of us.

So....Do what you can!

Make or buy a small summer learning packet, print off a class set, and send it home. Grab this summer learning packet from my TPT store. It includes 8 full weeks of ELA review with NO PREP for you!

Sure, not all students will do the work but some will and that's all that matters!

TWO: Offer a Reward System

Provide students and their parents with a simple reward system for working on the materials you sent home or just simply reading over summer break. I love these cheap ones below from Amazon!

Remember many parents don't know where to look for resources like these and really appreciate you doing the front work!

Summer regression is real and common, unfortunately! You can help your students avoid it by simply providing learning materials and/or offering a reward system!
