Managing After-School Dismissal

Our main job as a teacher is to educate our students right? Yes! But....... we also have the monumental task of ensuring their safety at all times. When I was teaching I always felt like my students' safety was most vulnerable during dismissal.

Hundreds of kids going every which way in a somewhat organized fashion would always send my anxiety into a tailspin! While my school had it's own system it always made me feel better during certain times to implement an additional system for managing after-school dismissal: Dismissal Transportation Bracetelts.

These bracelets were SO easy to use! Simply print, cut, and tap to wrists! An editable version is also included in case your school/students don't fit into one of the pre-made categories. Best of all my students always loved them!

I would use them:

  • First days/weeks of school when I didn't know my students well yet.

  • If I had a student who often switched how they went home (i.e. split homelife situations)

  • If I had a sub.

  • If we had an early release day.

  • If I had a new student.

  • If a student gave me a note in the morning from their parents saying they had a dismissal change that day I would quickly put a bracelet on them so we would both remember all day.

I hope these help keep your students safe and help keep you sane!
